Protein Cold Foam Coffee
If you’ve ever tried to stir a scoop of protein powder directly into a steaming cup of coffee, you likely ended up with a clumpy mess. The trick adding protein to your coffee is managing the temperature so the protein fully dissolves to avoid clumps.
If you are looking for a Starbucks high protein cold foam copy cat….here it is. But without the heavy cream and sugary syrups.
Protein Cold Foam Coffee
Makes 1 serving
Ingredients:
1 cup (8 oz) Strong brewed coffee or 2 shots of espresso
1 scoop Vanilla Whey Protein Isolate
1/4 cup Milk (can use cow’s milk, soy, almond, or oat)
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Optional: 1 tsp Sugar-free Vanilla syrup
Directions:
Put your protein powder and cinnamon into a large mug. Add the cold milk and sweetener (if using). Use a handheld milk frother (or a whisk) to blend this into a thick, smooth paste or "slurry." Do NOT add protein directly to your hot coffee, this will make it clump.
Slowly pour your hot coffee into the mug while continuing to pulse the handheld frother. By introducing the heat gradually to the cold milk/protein mix, you prevent the whey from clumping.
Once combined, hold the frother just below the surface of the liquid for 10–15 seconds to create a thick, airy foam topping that mimics a high-end latte.

If you are looking for an iced coffee or cold brew version, make the foam the same way and pour over your iced drink to get the same foam topping.
Change up the flavors by using different flavors of protein powder or additions like ginger, vanilla, or cardamom instead of cinnamon.
